In modern times, The Star Of David is the most iconic symbol tied to Jewish identity culturally and religiously.

However, throughout history, the six-point star has been used in other cultures, like in Hinduism, where the hexagram is known to represent the merging of female and male energies, while in some Mormon churches the Star of David symbolize the union of heaven and earth. The six points of the star symbolize God's influence throughout the universe in all directions.

In the late 17th century, the star of David became the official seal of many Jewish communities and a general sign of Judaism.

European Jews began displaying the six-pointed star, the 'Magen David' on synagogues, identifying them as official places of worship.

In the 19th Century, the symbol was adopted by the Zionist Movement, giving the star a much more meaningful international recognition. Even then, the star was still not particularly viewed with worldwide exclusivity to the Jewish community until World War I, when the symbol was used on gravestones for fallen Jewish soldiers.
